You've gotta try! So very true. The apostle Paul advised Christians: “Do not you people be owing anybody a single thing.” (Rom. 13:8) We might try to justify not repaying a debt, assuming that the creditor is well-off and does not need the money. I can't get over how much she sounds and talks like her mom. She reminds so much of Judy, you can even hear a bit of her mother in her singing. The new version of A Star Is Born cannot top this performance. This is when a star and a song came together and exploded in a supernova. Judy Garland singing The Man That Got Away in A STAR IS BORN is a work of art by itself. I don't think James Mason was just acting when he played the following scene, trying to tell her she's an incandescent star and finally saying, I just want to look at you.

Best musical moment in the history of film. Torch singing may not hold a candle to opera or jazz, but this is the one exception. Transcendent. Of course I had heard of Judy Garland. The Wizard of OZ and Somewhere Over The Rainbow.
But that was the extent of my knowledge of what I learned was a tragically overburdened shooting star.
Cruelly, Judy seemed to be marked for pressurised burn-out from early in life.
I think this excellent film is ultimately a sad narrative of a wonderfully-gifted but increasingly fragile artiste and it was so well done that it could rightly be called a tragic masterpiece.
The entire cast was superb and Renee Zellweger herself gets a solid 11 as Judy. And her singing is great!
I thoroughly recommend it.

Judy Garland was known as the girl with the big voice, Liza also has the same big voice that is absolutely fantastic. She and her mother are so talented. Judy left too us too soon. It is my hope that Liza has a wonderful life. Sorry... Renee's is Renee. in looks, voice and song... her muscular amazing arm muscles, confusing. great in her own roles, but as Judy Garland. no thanks. Don't worry Judy. We promise. That song deserved the Oscar as did Judy for her heartbreaking and brilliant performance as Esther/ Vickie. And if there were an Oscar for best singing voice, it would be hers too! That voice is a gift. Thank you Judy.

This is absolutely and clearly one the cinema's greatest vocal performances. it leaves you with chills. I'm a little too young to remember Judy Garland but thought the film was sensational. If Rene Zellweger doesn't receive an oscar for her role it would be a tragedy! Superb performance.
